INCLINE FAMILY DENTISTRY
Whether your teeth are chipped, cracked, or discolored, when you’re ready for a smile makeover, consider dental veneers.
What are Dental Veneers?
Veneers are thin coverings attached to the fronts of your teeth to change their appearance. Made from porcelain or resin, veneers are crafted to match the shape of your natural teeth. The tooth-colored material can be customized to suit your needs, too. For example, if your teeth are stained from smoking, foods, or beverages, veneers are an excellent way to whiten your smile. Veneers are also used to correct teeth that appear too large or small and to fill unwanted gaps between teeth.
Getting Dental Veneers
Once our dentist, Dr. Travis Barr, evaluates your teeth and determines that you are a candidate for veneers, a small portion of enamel will be removed from the fronts of the teeth that will receive veneers. This makes space for the veneer to fit on your tooth. Next, Dr. Barr will help you determine the best shade of white for your veneers so that they are natural-looking when applied. Finally, an impression of your teeth is taken to use to make the veneers. Temporary coverings are placed on your teeth to protect them while waiting for your permanent veneers to be crafted. Once your new veneers are ready, you’ll return to our office for fitting and placement.
Your veneers will be bonded in place and will look and feel like your natural teeth.
Caring for Dental Veneers
Once your new dental veneers are placed on your teeth, it’s important to follow the directions you receive for caring for your veneers. Of course, your daily oral hygiene is vitally important, so you will continue brushing at least twice daily and flossing once per day. In addition, you may want to avoid foods and beverages known to stain teeth such as coffee, red wine, and dark berries. If you care for your veneers properly, they should last for many years.
