Important Questions to Ask a New Dentist

Choosing a new dentist can be a stressful and time-consuming process. It is important to find a dentist that will be able to handle your specific needs so that any and all of your dental problems can be resolved properly. Here are some questions that you should ask your dentist to make sure that he or she is the proper fit for your dental needs.

The first question that you should ask your dentist is how long has he or she been in practice. This is a very important question to ask because it will give you an idea of how much experience the dentist has. It is highly important that your dentist has a good amount of experience so that you can feel more secure and confident when he is working on any of your dental problems.

Another important question that you should ask your dentist is what type of technology and equipment he or she uses. It is also important to ask your dentist if he or she uses any relaxation or sedation techniques to ease any dental phobia that you may experience. This question is especially important to ask if you have any fear of visiting a dental office. There are many people who have a phobia when it comes to visiting a dental office, and this is a great way to ease some of that fear and feel more confident and comfortable with your new dentist.

It is also very important to ask how long it usually takes to get an appointment. This is an important question to ask because if you are someone who has a busy schedule, it will allow you to know how far in advance you should be booking your appointment. This would be a good time to also ask the dentist if he sees children as well as adults. If you have any children this question will help you determine whether or not this dentist is a good fit for you and for your family.

Having a good dentist that has an adequate amount for experience will make your dental experience that much better. It is important to ask any of your questions that you may have to ensure that this dentist is a good fit for your dental needs. If you have any children, it is especially important to ask these questions to make sure the dentist knows how to properly help your child.

Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update

On March 19th, Governor Jared Polis signed an executive order requiring that all dental offices suspend operations for elective procedures until April 14th. If you have an appointment scheduled before April 14th, we will be calling to reschedule your appointment. Please be patient with us as we work through these logistics.

I will remain available for any person who is experiencing dental pain, infection, or swelling, however, all other procedures are being postponed. To reach me for urgent dental needs please call the office for the emergency number and leave a message. We will continue to monitor the situation and make updates as more guidance becomes available from the State, CDC and the Colorado Dental Association.

Thank you for your patience during this difficult time and we are wishing everyone good health.
Dr. Travis Barr
